Emotional Machines: Dance/Fight Custom electronics, DVD player, privacy glass, wood, 2003/2005 Adam Chapman Dance/Fight is a heavily pixelated movie clip of a "dance off" scene from a popular musical. As one approaches the piece, the image comes into a soft focus. The user, herself, must dance back and forth to resolve the image.
Emotional Machines is a series of reactive sculptures which playfully examine the way we ascribe emotion to inanimate technologies. Emotional Machines parallels current research in "affective computing," in which the capability of sensing and conveying emotion is built into computing devices.
